When you see the Ready-to-Apply Icon next to a Real Oil product, it means that the essential oil has already been diluted with a pure carrier oil and is ready for use on your skin as soon as it comes out of the package. Each of these products comes in a bottle with a roll-on top. Each one has a label that indicates it is Ready-to-Apply. These products are convenient and portable, and save you the work and hassle of diluting full-strength oils at home.
Most of our Ready-to-Apply products come in a 3% dilution, either with pure fractionated (liquid) coconut oil, or a nourishing combination of jojoba and rosehip oil (in the Real Beauty line of products). Our Real Kids products come in a gentle 2% dilution, appropriate for kids’ more sensitive skin.
Using Ready-to-Apply Blends
Real Oil Ready-to-Apply products are great for bringing with you to work, to school, when traveling, camping, for thpage-sectioning in your purse or backpack, or for when you just don’t want the hassle of measuring and mixing your own dilutions with full-strength oils and carrier oils. Using them is as easy as pulling off the cap and applying them to your skin.
When you’ve identified the issue you want to address (for example: your new job as a doughnut-hole puncher leaves your shoulders and arms fatigued) choose an oil that works to address it (try our deeply refreshing Muscle Soothe Ready-to-Apply blend). Massage the oil over the target area (your arms and shoulders) and go on with your day! Reapply as needed. If you are looking for overall emotional support (such as lifting your mood), psychological support (focusing your mind), and whole-system benefits (supporting a physical function), try targeting the bottoms of your feet, wrists, temples, neck, chest, behind the knee, and inside the elbow.
Some Things to Know
You can use many essential oils on children two and older, though kids’ sensitive skin requires a weaker dilution than adults. Look to the Real Kids line for blends with a kid-appropriate dilution. When using oils on children, start small and observe them carefully to be sure there are no adverse reactions. Don’t use oils on children younger than two years old. Also, do your homework, as some essential oils are not safe for use on any children.
Some oils require extra care when used topically (whether on kids or adults). Citrus oils can be phototoxic, which means they can react badly on skin when exposed to sunlight. Phototoxicity can cause swelling, redness, and sometimes blisters. Blends with Lemon, Lime, Bergamot, Bitter Orange, and Grapefruit essential oil can increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun. Avoid exposing your skin to direct sunlight for 12-18 hours after you’ve applied them.
Finally, don’t use Ready-to-Apply blends in your diffuser, as they contain a carrier oil and will muck things up. Choose instead our full-strength oils for this purpose.
